Which size do I need?

The Kjavik One runs large and is cut wide. Because of its anatomical shape it sits closer to your real foot length than a conventional sneaker.

1
Take a size down
Most of our customers wear one size smaller than in conventional shoes. That alone is a good starting point.
2
Measure your foot
Heel to longest toe, standing, in millimetres. Then use the chart below. Leave 5 to 10 mm of room.

47 293–298 mm 303 mm 101 mm 12

Inner length and inner width are the measurements of the shoe itself. “Your foot length” is the inner length minus 5 to 10 mm of room, which is what most people find comfortable. EU 48 is available in the selector as well. Same rule: half a size down from your usual sneaker.

Example: a foot length of 264 mm lands in EU 42. If you are right between two sizes, take the larger one. The toe box is wide, but length is length.

Why Kjavik

five reasons for stronger feet.

The short version first. Tap “Read more” for the full explanation including the studies.

+57% foot strength

Zero drop and a wide toe box put the muscles in your feet back to work.

Stronger feet with the Kjavik One

The thin, flexible sole of the Kjavik One activates your foot muscles with every step. Zero drop and a wide toe box wake up muscles that go quiet inside cushioned shoes.

More foot strength means more stability, more drive and a base that holds up under every lift, without a single extra exercise.

What the research says: people who wear minimal footwear regularly can increase foot muscle strength by up to 57%.

Holowka et al., “Foot strength and stiffness are related to footwear use in a comparison of minimally- vs. conventionally-shod populations”, Scientific Reports 11, 18351 (2021).

Natural posture

0 mm drop instead of a hidden heel. Your knees, hips and back will notice.

Natural posture: Kjavik One versus a raised heel

Almost every shoe has a heel, including the ones you would not expect: sneakers, trainers, everyday shoes. That heel tips your body forward. To stay upright, your spine pushes your upper body back all day long. Hips, lower back and neck work against gravity without you noticing.

The Kjavik One has 0 mm drop. You stand square on the ground, the way you would without shoes. Knees, hips and back line up naturally and the load goes where your body wants to carry it.

You feel it at the end of a long day.

A base that does not move

A wide toe box means real force transfer on squats and deadlifts.

Wide anatomical toe box

The wide, anatomical toe box lets your toes splay and grip, the way feet have worked for millions of years. You stand steadier, push harder and feel every kilo, and every bit of the floor underneath you.

However heavy the set gets, you slip and wobble less. You can finally put your attention on the rep instead of on your feet.

A transition you control

Three levels, from a 6 mm cushion to no insole at all. You set the pace.

Kjavik 3-step insole system

Every Kjavik One comes with two insoles free of charge: Comfort (6 mm) and Performance (3 mm). Wear it with neither and you get the third level: three ways to wear the same shoe, from cushioned to fully barefoot.

Start on Comfort. Move to Performance when you want more ground feel. Take both out when you are ready for the real thing. Your muscles build up step by step instead of being overloaded in week one.

You set the pace. Your feet get stronger, not sore.

One shoe, all day

Gym, street, office. It replaces most of the rack.

One shoe for the gym and the day

Lifting shoes for heavy squats. Trainers for the workout. Sneakers for afterwards. And a couple more besides. Enough of that.

The Kjavik One works for squats, deadlifts, sled pushes and box jumps, and on the way home. No changing shoes mid-session, no thinking about which pair suits which exercise.

You put them on in the morning and keep them on. Sneaker design you can wear anywhere: office, dinner, gym.

Backed by science

peer-reviewed. not claimed.

No wellness slogans, only published research on barefoot movement.

+57%

More foot strength

People who wear minimal footwear regularly can strengthen their foot muscles significantly, measured against people who have spent their lives in minimal shoes.

Holowka et al., “Foot strength and stiffness are related to footwear use in a comparison of minimally- vs. conventionally-shod populations”, Scientific Reports 11, 18351 (2021).

0mm

Drop means natural posture

Zero-drop shoes keep your body square to the ground. Your spine stops compensating backwards, and the constant load on hips and lower back drops with it.

Sinclair, “Effects of barefoot and barefoot inspired footwear on knee and ankle loading during running”, Clinical Biomechanics 29(4), 395–399 (2014).

−10%

Knee load when running

Minimal shoes reduce peak loading at the knee compared with traditional running shoes with thick cushioning, at the same speed over the same distance.

Bonacci et al., “Running in a minimalist and lightweight shoe is not the same as running barefoot: a biomechanical study”, British Journal of Sports Medicine 47(6), 387–392 (2013).

Yes. It is built for the gym, strength training and light running. The wide toe box and 0 mm drop give you maximum contact with the floor on deadlifts and squats.

Quite the opposite. Your feet may feel sore for the first few days, which simply means they are working again. That is exactly what the insole system is for: start on the 6 mm Comfort insole and work your way down. Most customers adapt within two to four weeks.

SUMMER26 brings the Kjavik One down to €109 instead of €148. The code is applied automatically when you check out from this page, so there is nothing to type in.

Modern sneaker design instead of the orthopaedic look, the Kjavik 3-step insole system (two free insoles plus the option to wear the shoe with none) for a gentle transition, more than 70% recycled and vegan materials, and a fair price that already includes the insole system.

You have 14 days from delivery to try them at home. A size exchange is free, including the return label, which you can print or have printed from a QR code at a parcel shop. A full return costs €4.90 for shipping, handling and reprocessing. Shoes need to look unworn.
